| Having only been reading the manga and not webcomic, I hope they shift things around a bit. the random transitions from the main story to a completely different, one chapter long, unconnected gag will be a little off-putting. Hopefully they still include stiff like the "team" chapter, but they do it all at the beginning instead of in the middle of an arc. |

Other than that, haven't watched the first season yet, but that's always cool for the fans, I guess. as far as I know, this has nothing to do with wether they have the right to decide making a sequel or not. anyway, the origin of this was in late 2000s, back then, no one was complaining about Madhouse shows not getting sequels since most of their them were floops in disc sales which was called "madhouse curse" but after they made HoTD in 2010 and it sold well (about 6k average), people were expecting a second season which never came up, as well as Mahouka S2, NGNL S2 and BOTOOM S2 (even thou the last was also a floop) add to that a bunch of anime that were made before the bankruptcy and have no chance of getting a sequel since Madhouse's owners have changed as well as Madhouse policy. so there you go, the "Madhouse floop curse" became "Madhouse sequel curse", and notice that I'm saying "curse", so it should be obvious that this whole thing is just a meme and no one actually takes it seriously. Which is perfectly and utterly stupid. HoTD AFAIk never had enough content to make a second season. Mahouka is getting a movie, probably will get a second season later on, as it's still fairly recent NGNL is getting a movie and the movie is necessary to be aired before getting to a s2, so it's even more the case than mahouka. BTOOM didn't work, you said it yourself. So that thinking came from what? Recent adaptation that aren't old enough to get a new seasons but are already getting a movie, something that don't have enough material for a s2 and something that was a commercial flop? Really? I'll ask again, who the hell thought that this was a convincing list of example to start that bullcrap about Madhouse = no second season? And obviously you aren't aware of what you're talking about. Even if madhosue doesn't want to make a second season of something, if the publisher/owner of the original material wants to, they just has to go to another anime studio instead. MAdhouse has no right to stop that from happening as the relationship between anime studios and copyright holders are not the same as a western movie producer wanting to adapt a book or something, it works backward. Madhouse and other anime studios do not buy any licensing right, they're paid in reverse to make an adaptation. They invest in the anime project and the anime project ALONE in order to be part of the production committee and get a % of the BD and DVD sales, but that's it. And no, it's not a meme. It may have been intended at such but it's long past a meme, peoples believes it as if it was the undeniable truth. Listen to youtubers, read comments on MAL and elsewhere, "it's good but it's madhosue so unfortunately it'll never get a sequel" is the kind of comment you"ll get with peoples being serious about it. In other words, yes it was utter bullshit as a "rumour" and many peoples were taking it seriously. |
